"I get by with a little help from my friends." John Lennon
Research reveals that when a person is in trouble and needs help, a friend may be as helpful, sometimes more helpful, than a professional counselor. Two reasons why: friends open up to friends, and friends listen to friends. For specific advice, consult Collins' How to Be a People Helper, Welter's How to Help a Friend, or Worthington's When Someone Asks for Help. For seven examples of how it's done, we turn to the stories of the Bible.
