Meet Diana

Diana Ellis

Full Name: Diana Wilkes Ellis (maiden is Zimmerman)

Where were you born? Topeka

How did you end up in Topeka? My dad was a farm boy from Dover, Kansas whose passion for opera lead him to study at Julliard in NYC where by God's divine providence he met my mother and his tenor dreams were overwhelmed by a love for my mother! They married and returned to Kansas.

How long have you attended TBC? I am unsure - my best guess is about 15 years. We kept thinking we would do the welcome class until it seemed we had attended so long it was silly to go.

Family: Married to Ron since 1993 mother of 2 daughters- Emily (1999) & Grace (2002).

How do you occupy your day? I work part-time as a geriatric nurse, but most of the time I am buzy with our daughters and keeping house - my husband would say I spend alot of time sitting by the pool.

How would you spend a free Saturday? I always want to get up and go to garage sales or even the farmers market but I often work past 10 or 11 on friday nights and usually sleep in and wake up with house cleaning to do!

Favorite meal: Brunch on Christmas morning

Sports team you cheer for: The Red Hots - my daughter's softball team

What's one thing you've done that might surprise people? I quit smoking in 2003 after 18 years and ONLY by the grace of God am I free of that addiction - it's the hardest thing I have ever done. (Disclaimer - my girls were both c-section)

What shakes you up? Highway Driving - I drive like a woman well into her 80's and I am never confident that semi's will stay in their lane when I attempt to pass.
