Widows of Topeka

W.O.T. is a group of widows who desire to unite in a Christ-centered ministry of service to others in need while ministering support, encouragement and spiritual growth to Topeka area widows.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

What does the ministry of WOT do?

  • Sending cards on the first anniversary of the loss of a loved one.

  • Giving caregivers a needed break while widows sit with ill relatives.

  • Pairing up a widow with a wife whose spouse is terminally ill for support.

  • Cooking for various TBC events.

  • Setting up a joint Thanksgiving or Christmas gathering so women without family support won't be alone at the holidays.

  • Establishing opportunities to gather for outings and fellowship. Examples would be lunch after church services on Sundays or attending movies as a group.

  • Keeping women connected through a Facebook presence.

  • Identify opportunities to do outreach to other widows in the Topeka community and bring them to Christ.
