TBC Student Ministries

Student Ministries Pastor

Scott DeSanders

Scott has been the Student Ministries Pastor at TBC for nearly 3 years. He is originally from Dallas, TX.  and a graduate of Yale University and Dallas Theological Seminary. Scott is passionate about teaching the Word to our students both on Sunday mornings and on Wed. and Thurs. nights at our mid week Bible studies. He loves our students and is constantly looking for new ways to challenge them to grow in their faith. In addition to discipling students, planning awesome events, preparing weekly lessons and leading a whole crew of devoted volunteers... Scott loves karaoke, trivia nights at the library, anything that has to do with pirates, the video game Just Dance and his precious cat Mary J. Sources close to Scott also say that he can often be found torturing his fellow co workers with opera music blaring from his office.

Student Ministries Assistant

Lori Tennyson

Lori has worked in the Student Ministries Dept. at TBC for almost 5 years. She is the "detail keeper" in the office during the day. Away from the office Lori enjoys leading her small group on Sundays and working with the girls during mid week bible studies, helping to put on all of the awesome events and trips for the Sr. and Jr. High and creating relationships with the students in order to lead them closer to the Lord. When Lori isn't investing her time in some of the coolest people on earth, she can be found taking care of her boys Shane and Cole, enduring the terrible movie selections of her husband Mike or making the long trip next door to hang out with her mom and dad. Lori's two not so secret loves are her puppy Sophie and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jr. High Leaders

We have a phenomenal group of student ministry volunteer leaders who have dedicated themselves to the growth and well being of your student.  They pray for your student, spend time with them and develop a relationship with them in hopes that they can encourage them to grow and mature in their walk with the Lord.

Carol Mammoliti

Carol is our know it all gal. During the day she works as the receptionist in the office here at TBC although she describes her job more as a "Pastor Keeper". It's on Wed. nights and Sunday mornings that she amps it up to lead the Jr. High and Sr. High ladies. When she isn't hanging out with the teen set you can find her at a local zumba class or taking care of her dogs Joe Boxer and Tater Tot. The things she loves most about the Student Ministry are the hugs she gets on Sunday mornings and getting the opportunity to share God's Word with her small group. Carol is married to Chris and has a daughter Sarah, who is currently at K State and a son, Kirk, who resides in Missouri.

Cathy DeDonder

Cathy is a 4th grade teacher at Elmont Elementary school. When she isn't hanging out at her family farm or getting ready for her daughter Betsy's wedding, she can be found leading a group of 7th grade girls on Sunday mornings. Cathy is married to husband Tim and in addition to her daughter Betsy, she has a son, Patrick, who is a Sr. at Cair Paravel Latin School.

Blain Clark

Blain has been volunteering with the Jr. High for four years now. His days are now spent training at his new job as a firefighter and hanging out with his wife Lindy and their huge dogs! He is also currently serving as a deacon for TBC. In his free time Blain enjoys riding atv's and would not be too embarrassed to confess that he knows the words to every Disney classic cartoon song! Blain's favorite thing about working with the Jr. Highers is that he is able to be a source of positive influence in their lives and someone they can talk to.

Lindy Clark

When Lindy married her husband Blain she didn't realize that 50 Jr. Highers came along as a package deal! She began serving with the Jr. High along side Blain and now loves hanging out with her small group of 7th grade girls. When Lindy isn't serving in the Student Ministry she can be found in the corner of the library studying for one of her many classes at Washburn University. Lindy's secret love is hot sauce and she confesses she'd eat it on just about anything if Blain would let her!

Miriam Loganbill

Adam Landavazo

Adam would tell you that he works full time for BNSF here in town, but he spends so much time with the youth group that we truly believe that this might actually be his real full time job. We don't know how he could possibly have time for additional hobbies but he also loves to play softball, watch the Jayhawks and he lives and breathes KC Royals baseball. Adam is also our resident "cupcake man" supplying us with a huge assortment of his favorite sweet treats. Adam says the best thing about volunteering in the Student Ministry is the relationships that he has developed with the students and seeing them grow in their faith. He also claims nothing is better than a good old "bro" hug from the fellas in his small group on Sundays.

Rachel Smyth

Rachel, a sophomore at Washburn University, is a new import to Topeka from Derby, Ks. Rachel loves to read, journal, and drink coffee. When Rachel isn't hidden away studying history or working at the coolest coffee joint in town, she is busy leading a small group of Jr. High ladies. Rachel loves being active in many social causes, being involved in campus activities and teaching the girls in her small group about the Lord.

Brandon Bills

Brandon is currently employed at Toys R Us where he describes his job as "making dreams come true". When Brandon isn't in the stockroom hanging out with Power Rangers, Transformers and Barbies, he can be found spending time with both our Jr. and Sr. High fellas. Brandon has a not so secret affinity for sweater vests and his favorite thing about the Student Ministry is getting to know the kids and seeing them continually grow in their relationships with the Lord.

Elizabeth Culbreth

Elizabeth is a recent grad of KU. She currently works at a Psychiatric Treatment facility and takes care of her newborn baby girl, Kerrigan. When Elizabeth isn't working, diapering or hanging out with her small group of  8th grade girls, she can very often be found sporting an apron and baking up fabulous desserts (husband Chris had to put her on a baking budget) for all of her loved ones. Elizabeth's favorite things about volunteering with the Jr. High ministry are Big Weekend, Stuck in the Middle and late night talks with her small group girls.

Brady Sorensen

Chris Culbreth

Chris would describe his day job as "Excel in a cube" but we prefer to call him a Data Analyst at Payless Shoe Source. When Chris isn't falling head over heels for his baby girl, Kerrigan, he might be playing video games, coaching Upward football, or eating some delicious treat his wife Elizabeth has whipped up for him. Chris readily confesses he is a total geek who's favorite thing about serving in the Jr. High is the relationships he has formed with the kids.
