You might recognize volunteer Valerie Tolin as the smiling greeter Sunday mornings at the door of the College Avenue Building. “I LOVE getting to greet people, being that smile and kind ‘welcome’ when they come to church,” Valerie said. “I am a firm believer you can make a HUGE impression and change someone's day by just a smile and a ‘hi.’ Recognizing them and saying without words, ‘He sees you,’ and ‘He loves you.’ I have had the joy of meeting so many new people!”
In addition to her Greeting Team duties, Valerie is also an AWANA volunteer. She loves kids and even more loves being a part of what God is doing through the many other volunteers. Whether you are a mom, dad, grandpa or grandma – giving your time to love on and pray over the more than 260 children each week is a joy and a way to be the hands and feet of Jesus. “The hugs and love that come from the kids are just one of the many perks of the job,” Valerie said.
Valerie is also the Revelation Wellness instructor at TBC. She has applied her love of fitness to God’s work. “Health isn't all about the fitness, or plans, or calories,” said Valerie, “It's so much deeper than that. We were created to move! But we all move with a different purpose. The movement of the Revelation Wellness class is a way we can worship the Father who created us with great detail and love. It's our way of sacrificing and surrendering to Him.” Not only is Rev Well a fitness class, it’s also a ministry and community that helps women break chains and strongholds in their lives.
Valerie finds time to serve in these ways, despite being a wife, employee, and busy mom of three. We want to thank her for being a light for Christ at TBC!
