Pay careful attention, then, to how you live—not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Ephesians 5:15-17

The vision of the Young Adult Community at Topeka Bible Church is to see young adults (college age through 35) making the most out of their young adult years by personally leading others to life and growth in Christ.

  • Community – We live life together each week, just as the early church got together regularly. (Acts 2:46)

  • Bible – We teach from God’s Word on Sunday mornings, because the Word of God is ”a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.” (Psalm 119:105)

  • Prayer – Just as the early church “gathered together constantly in prayer (Acts 1:14),” we do likewise!

  • Outreach and Missions – We have regular local outreaches and mission trips because Jesus calls us to “go into all the world and preach the gospel.” (Mark 16:15)

  • Discipleship – Our goal is to have regular discipleship occurring in our community, since Jesus asked us to teach others to obey everything He commanded us (Matthew 28:20)

  • Spiritual Growth – “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18)

  • Love – “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (1 John 3:16)

Our Young Adult Community is designed for those between the ages of 18 and 35 and is composed of four subgroups:

  • College Students

  • Young Professionals (i.e. Post-College Singles)

Crandall, Kelly–crop.jpg

Kelly Crandall is the interim leader of the Young Adult Community. She was born and raised in Topeka and attended TBC from the age of 5. Kelly got her start in ministry traveling internationally during her teenage years to help missionaries in different parts of the world, with the desire to one day live overseas. After graduating from Topeka High School, Kelly relocated to Chicago to study at Moody Bible Institute where she double-majored in Bible and elementary education. Following her graduation, she moved to the Philippines for three years to teach middle school math and science to the children of missionaries. In 2017, she returned to the U.S. to pursue an educational specialist in school psychology degree from the University of Kansas. After two years of full-time classwork, she is currently a school psychology intern at Wanamaker Elementary in the Auburn-Washburn school district.

Volunteer Leaders:

  • Matt Mantyla – College Men’s leader

  • Isabella Mantyla – College Ladies’ leader

  • Brett Bernhard – Young Professional Men’s leader

  • Kelly Crandall – Young Professional Ladies’ leader

  • Connor and Kenna Brantingham – Large Event leaders

In line with our values of Bible and Spiritual Growth, we have set two goals for the Young Adult Community:

  • To commit a new Bible verse to memory each month

  • To read a chapter per day in the Bible

In line with our value of outreach and missions, we are determined to share the gospel with our Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and ends of the earth:

  • Our local outreaches: Downtown bus terminal, Topeka nursing home, neighborhood prayer teams

  • Our national outreach: U.S. Disaster Relief with Samaritan’s Purse

  • Our international outreach: Austria and Hungary

Our goal in all outreach is not only to display the love of Christ, but to share verbally the message of the gospel.  For “how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? (Romans 10:14).”

We send out weekly emails and have a Facebook group called “TBC Young Adults” for Community members to connect and be kept informed about upcoming events.  Contact with any questions and/or if you are interested in becoming a part of this community!
